Long before Charlton Heston shifted focus to polishing his weopons, he starred as American astronaut Colonel George Taylor in the epic 1968 Science Fiction film Planet of the Apes.
The success of the film spawned four sequels and a couple of television shows plus was remade in 2001 by Tim Burton and starred Mark Wahlberg.
Despite the many variations it was Heston's portrayl opposite memorable characters such as Cornelius, Zira and Doctor Zaius that is best remebered. The controversial ending featuring a deshevelled Statue of Liberty is one of the most discussed scenes in cinematic history.
At My Icon Art and Clothing we have dedicated a vintage retro style men's t shirt to the movie. The shirt was inspired by the fictional space exploration agency ANSA and features a distressed hand screen printed motif. The shirt is a 100% organic Earth Positive Tee shirt that has a wonderfully soft feel.
